ANCESTORS OF TERREBONNE HENRY FAMILY LISTED HOUMA DAILY COURIER, SUNDAY, DEC. 11, 1988, SECTION 3-C
Jean Baptiste Theodore Henry came to La. on Dec. 3, 1785 from France on the ship, La Ville D'Archangel, with his father, mother, maternal grandmother and aunt, and his two sisters. He was born and baptized July 27, 1766 in St. Servan, France, the son of Acadian parents--Charles Henry and Marguerite Josephine Theriot.
His paternal grandparents, Jean Henry and Marie Hebert, were also born in Acadia. His paternal great-grandfather Robert Henry, went to Acadia from Normandie, France about 1676 and was the progenitor of the Acadian Henry families. Robert Henry married Marie Madeleine Godin of Canada.
Jean Baptiste Theodore Henry married twice; first on Jan. 14, 1794 in Baton Rouge to Marie Felicite Boudreaux, daughter of Jean Baptiste Boudreaux and Marie Modeste Trahan; and second on July 26, 1803 in Plattenville, La. to Anne Naquin, daughter of Charles Naquin and Anne Doiron. He was the father of eight children, six from the first marriage and two from the second.
Of the eight children it is presumed that only five reached the age of maturity. Of these five, four settled in Terrebonne Parish, and one married and moved to Illinois. The 1830 Census listed only the head of the houshold. It listed Jean Baptiste Henry, Jean Baptiste Henry, and Francois Constant Henry.
