Note: There is no proof that Arthur was legally adopted by the Bryants. There is no new birth certificate for him in the name of William Harvey Bryant, it is in the name of Arthur Lee Hill. On his birth certificate his mother's name is spelled "Alemeater". His birth parents were Walter McCune Hill and Almeda Parker. Arthur's (Billy) sister, Annie Elizabeth Hill told her nephew's wife (Lilly Jean Engleman) that after baby Ruby was born, their mother was never well. Since Billy was a sickly child, papa didn't think Elizabeth could take care of both her mom and her brother. She said the Bryants wanted Billy so papa let them take him to raise. He always kept in contact with his birth family. His social security card application has the name William Harvey Bryant on it. I (Lilly Jean Beal Engleman) was told at the courthouse that since there is no birth certificate in the name of William Harvey Bryant, he was not legally adopted.
