Note: Discharge papers state that he joined the U.S. Army May 25, 1918 at Bastrop, Bastrop Co., Texas. He served in the Mense-Argonne Offisive (Champagne) France Oct. 6 to Oct. 29, 1918. It also states that he was born in McDade, Texas and was 24 4/12 years of age at time of enlistment. He was 5'4 1/2 in. tall, had brown eyes, black hair and dark complexion. This info would put his date of birth as Jan. 25, 1896 not 1893. This can't be right as his father died 1893. Divorce papers filed and later dismissed in Bastrop Co., Texas state he married Apr. 30, 1919 Sarah Miller in Bastrop Co., Texas. Informant for death certificate was C. D.
