Funeral: 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008 at Rush Creek Christian Church in Arlington. Interment: 4 p.m. in Bluffton Cemetery in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home-Bowen Road Chapel. Memorials: May be made to the Texas School Nurses Association. Sunny loved her Lord, her family and her friends. She served the Texas Education Agency, retiring as Texas' director of school health programs. Sunny was born Nov. 2, 1936, in Houston, a Baptist preacher's kid. After graduating from Houston Lamar High School in 1954, Sunny attended Baylor University, married, and gave birth to her children in Waco. In 1975, Sunny graduated from Dallas Baptist University. She later earned an MS in medical/surgical nursing education and administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. Sunny was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. Dr. Ray V. Mayfield Sr.; mother, Dehlia Dora Wilkey Mayfield; brother, the Rev. Dr. Ray V. Mayfield Jr. and wife, Nita Robbins Mayfield; and son, Duane Mayfield Thomas. Survivors: Her daughter, Dayna D. Kerr of Cleburne and husband, Woody; son, Charles R. "Chuck" Thomas Jr. of Arlington and wife, Helen; grandchildren, Katy, Abby, Grady Ray, MacKenzie, Shane, Erin, Travis, Felecia, James and James and their spouses; several great-grandchildren; niece and nephews, Mary Kathryn Mayfield, Ray V.
