Notes
a. Note:   "Emigrants of the Emerald Isle" by Gail White (info sent by Patricia Pepple (ppepple@@myjaycounty.con) Nov. 2002) William White was raised by an Uncle Robin Taylor, who was married to the sister of Unknown Hunter. According to "A History of Irish People" in 1798 a group of Irish Protestants & Catholics plotted in secret to overthrow the British rule. A traitor betrayed them to the British. Soldiers were sent to capture the rebels. William was upstairs at his Uncle Robin Taylor's home when the soldiers arrived. One went up the stairs after him at which time William stabbed him with his broadsword. William escaped and made his way to a ship on which he sailed to Tuckerhoe Draft, Monroe Co., VA (now W. VA) William purchased 100 acres from Thomas Keener for five pence. It was located on Carpenter's Run in Monroe County. After the death of his wife, William and the children living at home moved West, which then began in Ohio.

Patrica (PMorgan379@@aol.com) Said she "thinks" but is not "positive" that Mahala is a daughter of William White. She is still looking for proof. Mahala was born abt. 1829 in Adams Co., Ohio and died June 13, 1868. She married James H. McCoy February 25, 1847. James was killed during the Civil War, dying from injuries sustained during a Battle in Virginia. He died on Sept. 29, 1864.
