Hi Lilly, You are responsible for my being able to talk with cousin, Gerry Allison last night, and then his sister, Betty Cawlfield (of Houston) this afternoon. I kept calling Gerry's phone no. yesterday and getting no response, so decided to look in White pages to check the number, and found another number under his name. I called it (281-356-8366) and he answered (about 9 PM) and we talked until nearly 10 PM. He said the other phone line belonged to his wife's computer, and he doesn't go into that room where the computer is. His wife, Joan, is out of town, in Wyoming at the present time. He was able to tell me that my great grand father's name was William Albert Allison and he was born in Madison Co. Tenn in 1847 and married Sarah Elizabeth (Sally) Reeves in 1872. He died in Freestone Co. while digging a water well, was overcome by gas from shallow coAL I always had a gut feeling that James Ira Allison (Linie's husband) was related to me. So sometime later after I had talked with Gerry, I dug out the Allison info that you had sent me. Lo and behold........James Ira Allison was the brother of my great grand father, William Albert Allison. What a surprise!!!!! I slept hardly any all night, thinking of all the ways that the Hill and Allison families are connected. Gerry gave me his sister's name and number in Houston and I called Betty this morning and left a message on her machine. She returned my call late this afternoon. Gerry and Betty have 2 sisters, Phyllis and Minta, who is deaf, Betty said. Here are their names and birthdates and residences. They are the children of Sidney Dewey Allison and Ruby Lee Harrison Allison. Here are facts: Sidney Dewey Allison, born 1898, died Jan 20, 1966 buried in a Houston area cem. Ruby Lee Allison, born 1905, died July 1996, and buried next to Sidney
Their children: Betty Jewel Allison Cawlfield, born 6-22-25, lives in Houston. Ruby Minta Allison Staudenmayer, born 5-9-22, lives in Houston Phyllis Allison Bouldin, born 8-8-37 (had a birthday yesterday), also lives in Houston. Sidney Gerry Allison, born 3-12-35, lives in Magnolia.
Sidney's wife, Ruby, had done geneology work for about 15 years before she died, and she had a book printed about her family and the Allisons. Gerry said that 130 copies were printed, and sold for $60.00 each and that there aren't any left. He seemed to think that there was info in it that I would like to have. Betty said she would send me the geneology chart of the Allison family, and a picture of William Albert and his brother, (but there are no names on the picture, so they don't know which one is which.) She said the book is mostly of family memories. I would love to see it and will see if I can. Meanwhile I will send her the Allison chart, that you had sent to me. By the way, Betty said she rememberd my daddy, and had visited with him several times. There is more info, but my back is tired, so will close and write more tomorrow. Sue
