  Nicholas Hammer , aged 70 years, died at his home on Taylor's Bayou, Wed. Aug. 31. Mr. Hammer has for many years been a familiar figure on the streets of La Porte, as he dispensed fresh vegetables from house to house. He lost his wife a few months ago, and was himself a sufferer from an incurable cancer. On his last trip here a few weeks since, he bade a sad farewell to his friends, saying that his end was near and he hoped soon to join his beloved wife.
  The newspaper is availabe on microfilm at the La Porte Community Library.
  Taylor Bayou Cemetery (Hammer-McFaddin Family Cemetery) is located between Red Bluff Rd. and Port Rd. on the west side of Taylor Lake, Pasadena, Harris Co., Texas. The cemetery is on property and in poor condition, eroding into the lake. The city of Pasadena and Seabrook are working on saving the cemetery.
