One of the stories I remember hearing was that he would sail his boat from Seabrook all the way to Galveston on Saturday morning to sell his catch for the week. I'm going to guess that would have been middle age of his life. (25-45) Later in his life when he was living here in Texas City, he had a horse and buggy and made a living selling ice and ice cream off his buggy. He was a very popular and well liked person in this venture. People would always know when to step out on the porch to wait for him to come by. He also many times would "chip off" pieces of ice and give to his following of small children as a special treat. This doesn't sound like much to us now days, but back in the early 1900's, ice was a commodity that was for the "upper class" of society. Bill _________________________ LDS..........
