Note: obit Mrs. Wm. Griffith Carrie Belle Griffith, the daughter of Nehemiah and Lillie Mae Shackelford, was born in the home where she lived throughout her life. Her parents and one sister, Mrs. Mary Rolston preceded her in death. She was born Jan 11, 1896 and passed away at the Smithville hospital Jan 27 1967. She attended school at Ridgely and also the Missouri Christian College at Camden Point. On June 7, 1922, she was united in marriage to William Griffith at Excelsior Springs and to this union four children were born. In early life she accepted Christ as her Saviour and was a lifelong member of the Ridgely Christian Church. She will be remembered by all as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She lived her life for those around her and devoted much time to friends and neighbors when they were in need. Through the years she spent much time working for the Lord through the church. She had beenin ill health for the past few months and since June has spent much time in the Smithville hospital. She had the constant care of a devoted husband, sons and daughters. She leaves to morn her passing, her husband, Bill, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Thomas of Gladstone, Mrs. Lillian Foster of Edgerton; two sons, Harold Griffith, Kansas City, and Robert Griffith, Parkville; 13 grandchildren, and a great grandchild; other relatives and friends. One grandson, Jack Foster, was unable to attend funeral services as he is serving in the armed forces at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. Services were held Sunday afternoon at the Ridgely church, conducted by Rev. Preston Gregory and Rev. David Pierce. Music by Mrs. Bernice Stobaugh as pianist and Mrs. Carol Meyers, and Mrs. Geneva Deaton, singers. Bearers were Collins Yates, Willie Rolston, Roy Blankenship, Merle Denney, Allen Hurst, Jack Fisher, Noble Miller and Charles Reineke. Interment was in the family lot in Ridgely cemetery.
