She was born on March 17, 1922 in Louisville, KY. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Gracie Kelly; and her husband, Walter C. King of Indianapolis, IN. She is survived by her son, Walter C. "Pete" King, Jr.; grandson, Walter C. "Trey" King III and wife Nicki; great grandchildren, James Grayson King, Jack Samuel King and Noah Curtis Halford; nieces and nephews, Marcia (Charles) Scarborough, Walter E. (Jean) Thomas, Jr., James O. (Barbara) Thomas, Sandra J. (George) Cole, Janet (Harold) Laut, Bill (Carol) Lego and David Spurgeon; great nieces and nephews, Sharon Shumate, Jeff Scarborough, Carol Redmond, Mary Jane Adams, Catherine (Chad) Delpont, James O. (Mary Kate) Thomas, Jr., Kelly W. Thomas, George W. "Chip" Cole IV and wife Jill, John W. (Holly) Cole, David M. (Jessica) Cole, William (Christina) Laut and John (Molly) Laut; great-great nieces and nephews, Jamie (Prent) Martin, Jessica Shumate, Houston Shumate, Jonathan Adams, Cameron Adams, Amber Thomas, Alex Redmond, Lindsey Redmond, Will Cole, Jake Cole, Tucker Delpont, Johanna Laut, Fritz Laut, Anton Laut, Elizabeth Laut, Emma Laut, Shayla Laut and Isabel Laut. Remaining family members and friends include: Winnie Miller, Catherine Adams, Marilyn Floyd, Lorene Bunting, Bob (Jayne) Averitt, Bonnie King-Myatt, Pat Hargrove, Abby Simmons, Sonny McDowell and caring neighbors. Dorothy was a dedicated elementary teacher with 43 years of service occurring in Indianapolis, IN and Eakin Elementary in Nashville, TN. She was a member of the Vine Street Christian Church, Pilot Club International, Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK), Women's Club and Cheekwood. A very special appreciation to all the "caregivers" at Adams Place in Murfreesboro, TN and The Health Center at Richland Place in Nashville, TN. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 25, 2010 at 12 Noon, at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road, by Thomas Kleinert. Interment Spring Hill Cemetery.
