  Francis and Emma's children, Sol, Ezella, David, Elzie, Lydia, and Woodrow, attended Fairview School in Franklin County, AL.

  From a Franklin County newspaper dated 3/28/1935: Mr. F.M. Martin observed his seventy-second birthday March 21, having with him his wife and children. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Vester Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Martin, Mrs. Ezella Burcham, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Martin, Mrs. David Martin, Mr. Edzil Martin, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones. Mr. Woodrow Martin and five children were absent. Mr. Martin has fifteen grandchildren, two being married. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Porter were also present. Dinner was spread under the oak trees and everyone enjoyed a pleasant time. We are hoping he will have many more happy birthdays. MRS. LYDIA JONES
  From a 1938 Franklin County newspaper: Martin Family Reunion - The annual Martin family reunion was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Martin, Sunday, July 24, with 104 relatives and friends, all being relation but twelve. The remainder were children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A nice dinner was spread under big oak trees. One and all had a grand time, hope there will be many more reunions like it. JUST A FRIEND.
  A letter was found written to Joseph Martin from Francis, his father, just about five months before Francis died: R'ville, Ala. January 22, 1941 "Dear Son & Family. Will drop you all a few lines to let you all hear from us. I have the flu and Emmer has had a light case of it, but she is better. Lydia has been in the hospital, but she is back at home now. She had her appendix out and had a time with her kiddneys. I have been carrying Emmer to Florence to an eye specialist her eye looks good now. You all be good and write soon. Lots of Love to all. Your Dad, F.M. Martin."
  According to Woodrow's wife, Evelyn, Francis Martin's mother died right after he was born, and his older sister just had a baby, and she nursed Francis, her brother.
  Franklin Co. Times May 22, 1941 Martin Dies Final rites for Frances M. Martin who passed away May 16th, at his residence in Russellville, Rt 7, following an illness of several weeks duration, were conducted at Robinson Cemetery, Saturday, with Spry in charge of arrangements, survivors include in addition to the wife are eight sons and three [daughters].
