KAUFFMAN DEAD [ Marshalltown newspaper?] Dies Thursday at Home of Daughter Near Conrad Mrs Plantena Jane Kauffman, widow of Daniel Kauffman died at 10:20 o'clock thursday evening at the home of her daughter Mrs. James Stackhouse near Conrad. She suffered a paralytic stroke last Sunday from which she never recovered. Mrs. Kauffman was born Plantena Jane Berry in Jefferson county [IA], April 20, 1853. She married Cyrus Snook September 6, 1874 at Fairfield and to them four children were born, all of whom are still living. Mr Snook died in 1882 and she was married to Daniel Kauffman at Fairfield in 1888. They had one daughter, Mrs Stackhouse at whose home she died. The Kauffmans came to this city in 1892 and Mr. Kauffman died here in June 14, 1910. Since that time Mrs. Kauffman lived alternately with Mrs. Stackhouse and another daughter, Mrs. H.F. Peterson of this city. Beside Mrs. Stackhouse and Mrs. Peterson, Mrs. Kauffman is survived by the following children: Perry Snook , LongBeach, Calif.; Delmer H. Snook, Grinnell, IA; and Frank Snook, Detroit, Mich. She came from a family of nine children, only two of whom are now living. They are Samuel and William Berry, both of Froyd, Mont. Mrs Stackhouse [I think this is a misprint, should be Mrs. Kauffman] was a member of the State Street Evangelical church of this city for nineteen years, and was also a member of the ladie's aid society. Arrangments for the funeral had not been made this morning.
