a. Note:   Mrs. Swanson Died Friday Evening
  Mrs. Christina Swanson died last evening at the home of her daughter Mrs. Henry Peterson on West Burlington street after and illness of only a few days. Mrs. Swanson was one of the best known of the older resident of this county. She was born in Sweden, December 13, 1827 and grew to young womanhood there. In 1844 she was united in marriage to Henry Swanson and resided in Sweden until Mr. Swanson's death a few years ago. To the couple were born eight children four of whom have gone before. Alone at the age of 78 Mrs. Swanson crossed the ocean and come to Fairfield in 1889 to make her home with her children who were already here. Mrs. Swanson was a staunch member of the Lutheran church during her life. She is survived by four children, Mrs. Henry Peterson, of this city; Mrs. Andrew Peterson, of Perlee; August Swanson of Libertyville and Emil Swanson of Wisconsin. There are also surviving twenty-two grand children and ten great grand children The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence and will be conducted by Rev. W.A. Wolgemuth of the Lutheran church. The interrment will be made in Evergreen cemetery.

  Kristina Svensson, age 77 home parish Hov (in �lvsborg county, part of V�stergotland, east of parish of Ljung) Departed G�teborg 10/11/1899 Destination Fairfield Now, her obit states she came here in 1889, but there are several discrepancies throughout her obit in regards to dates for various things.
  On Ellis Island I find: (you can see the manifest on www.ellisislandrecords.org )
  Kristina Svenson, age 77, 10 mos, widow From Hof (Hov), Sweden, destination: her son-in-law's, Henry Peterson, Fairfield IA !!!!!!! She arrived via Southhampton to NYC 10/22/1899, SS New York She can read, can't write, has $2 with her and "senility" is noted #############################################################################
  Kristina Svensdotter, born 1/13/1821, Hov. Left for N. Amerika 10/4/1899. Husband: Petter Svensson, born 1/28/1821, Hov. Died 5/10/1899.
  This was found in Oj�rna Torp, Fr�storp of Ranten, Hov. Additionally, and interestingly, there is a small farm in Hov who's name contains "Ljungshed". It's possible they lived on that farm at some point in time.
