a. Note:   JOHN VINING was born at Weymouth, 17 Jan. 1687; died there 27 July, 1746. He married, near 1710, Elizabeth Richards, daughter of James Richards, who survived him. He made his will 15 July 1746, and it was proved 22 Aug. 1746. In it he calls himself a husbandman, and mentions his wife Betty, his three sons Benjamin, John and Richard, Benjamin to be executor and his daughters Mary, Ruth and Lydia to have �30 each, excepting Ruth, who hath had a part of that sum already. Witnesses: James Bayley, James Beal and Nathaniel White. (Suffolk Probate Records, 39:157) The inventory mentions the estate of Richard Vining, one of the legatees, valued at �60; total evaluation �3,459 3s, 6d, taken 4 Mar. 1646-7. The dower was signed by Elizabeth Vining, her mark, Benjamin Vining, John Vining and Richard Vining. (Ibid, 39:417, 425.)
