St. Petersburg Times (FL) - January 24, 2000 Deceased Name: MOORE, MORSIE L. MOORE, MORSIE L., 93, of Trenton, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Sunday (Jan. 23, 2000) at North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville. A St. Petersburg native, she was the daughter of Marvel M. Whitehurst, the first sherriff of Pinellas County, who served from 1912 to 1920. She was a 1924 graduate of St. Petersburg High School and was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg. She move to Palm Bay in 1975 and to Trenton in 1983. Survivors include two nieces, Sandra W. Malone, Clearwater, and Carol J. Castaneda, Torrance, Calif.; and a nephew, Marvel W. "Sonny" Whitehurst, Bethany, Okla. E. Dale Gunter Funeral Home and Cremation Services, St. Petersburg.
