Note: HI21923
Note: (Research):Joseph T. Phelps was my gggrandfather through Fletcher Wesley. Flether had only one child, Catherine Basheba. She married Mike Whitman, the parents of my mother, Catherine Arveda, who married my father, Coy Wyclif Head, Sr. Joseph T. and Nancy are burried in an abandoned cemetery, now inside a cow pasture just inside Hernando County, bordering Sumter County. I have been searching for the father of Joseph T. for years without results. If you have that information, I would appreciate it. I beleieve he is the brother of Moses, son of James S. Phelps. The timing is correct, but I can not make that connection. Both of my grandmothers was a Phelps, I can trace the Phelps on my father's side back to 1497. Both Phelps families were living in North Carolina near each other in the 1700s. I believe the Joseph T. split came at that time. I am convinced they are the same family. My fathers side moved to Alabama, while my mother's side moved to Florida, stopping off in Georgia. If you have any information which can help me either connect the two families, or dispprove my theory, I would appreciate it. Thank you very much. C. Wyclif Head, II (Clif for short) Notes from Annmarie Hatch: Joseph, Nancy, and their children, Enoch B., Ann Caroline, Jemima, Louisa E. and Fletcher Wesley moved to Marion County, FL (later became Sumter County) in 1846 or 1847. They moved to Hernando County, FL in the mid 1850s, where they both are believed to have died in the 1860s.
