Interestingly, William A. Burdette, son of A. B. Burdette is not found in Tampa after 1922. However, another William A. Thompson appears. These William A. Burdette's are definitely two different individuals. They were both painters. The William A. Burdette who is married to Nellie Bryant Burdette and who first appeared in the 1923 Directory for Tampa, Hillsborough county, Florida is from Hardin county, Ohio. Hardin county William Burdette, is the son of Simon Burdett and Louise Oswalt. Simon was from England. Census records from Ohio and Tampa are very consistent about year of birth, place of birth and the birthplace of Hardin county William's father. Hardin county William was born in December 1881 in Ohio according to the 1900 U.S. Federal Census Record. Hardin county William does not appear with Nellie in the U.S. City Directory for Tampa after 1934; however, the 1934 Gadsden county death record for William A. Thompson would seem to preclude Hardin county, Ohio William as being the person named because of age and place of birth.
William Burdette is an inmate at the Florida State Hospital, River Junction, Gadsden County, Florida on the 1930 U.S. Census. He is 39 y.o. and was born in West Virginia. The same William Burdette, died in River Junction, Gadsden Co., Florida on 2 June 1934. Record states that he was born in 1891 in West Virginia. Hardin county, William A. Thompson is found on the 1930 U.S. Federal Census Record for Tampa, Florida.
