  St. Petersburg Times (FL) - April 11, 2002 Deceased Name: WHITEHURST , CHESTER M. "CHET WHITEHURST, CHESTER M. "CHET," 72, of Treasure Island, died Tuesday (April 9, 2002) at home. He came here in 1935 from his native Brandon. He moved to Atlanta in 1969 and returned to Treasure Island in 1978. He graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1948. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, retiring in 1969 as a lieutenant after 21 years of service. He worked in research and development at the Taulman Co. in Atlanta for 10 years and, in Treasure Island, worked with his son in children's theater. He was Protestant. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Patsy; two sons, Dan, Treasure Island, and Danis, St. Petersburg; a daughter, Danette Whitehurst, Seattle; and a grandson. David C. Gross Funeral Homes and Crematory, Central Avenue Chapel, St. Petersburg.
