Nov 07, 2018 Sorry it has took me longer to get back with you I been having eye surgery. My uncle had a bible from his mother which was James's sister and I told him to look in it and see if there was any information in it sure enough there was, it told me were his grave was and had to call and make sure it was the right one, it only had his name because my grandparents could not pay for anything else back then.

Norman Byrd died in a auto accident in Savannah Ga. Date unknown. He was with a women named Mita Baker 117 St. Joseph St. Savannah. She was treated at St. Joseph Hospital. Norman had two childern and a wife. Her names was Ethel and the childern names were Charles and Jacqueline Byrd. They were from Atlanta, Ga. Norman was buried in Leesburg, Florida. I beliieve the childern my have been adopted after Norman's death. Norman also had two sisters, Pearl Roe and Gladys Smith of Tampa.

Good morning Geoffrey. thank you very much for sending the information, I knew Charles had gotten in trouble, my mother knew some of it, his Grandmother never talked about till the end and the family was not sure if it was true. I know my G Grandfather never got over losing his son, he got real mean and treated my G Grandmother bad, the family was a little missed up back then. My mother did tell me because she lived with Jessie and Alma that one day someone come to the house that was in trouble, Jessie was a Deputy Sheriff of Hillsborough Co. Florida, my mother said that Jessie left soon after with the man and went to his brothers in Texas. Mom said they never said a word after that till Alma was on her death bed. My mother also told me that Norman was not a very nice man he treated my G Grandmother Alma very bad, took land from her in Lake Butler Florida and was a womanizer. Jessie and Alma was not married but my G Grandmother took care of the whole family working at Have A Tamps Cigar Co. rolling Cigars because Gladys and Pearl with there kids lived with her and would not work, I guess that is why my mother went to work at 14 because Alma raised my mom sense she was a small child.
I do not know were Norman is laid to rest but I still have a Aunt still alive that my know. I know he was living in Atlanta Georgia and working for Rexall Drugs, but the family said he was married to Thelma when he died so that was wrong, but I was also told he had two children Charles and a girl named Jacqueline could Jacqueline be Charles daughter. Two Questions did they ever find Charles and send him back to the hospital and I see he died young do you know how he died.
I want to thank you again you answered a lot of questions for me, I really like digging into the past and believe me the Byrd family is a little strange and they were never close to each other and they did not talk much about the family. Thank you again

He my be buried in Starke or Leesburg Florida but I will find out.
