Note: (Research):Notes by Mary McPherson Mrs. Elizabeth Slone Crum One of the largest family reunions held here recently was that held Sunday when the children and grandchildren and great grandchildren of Mrs. Elizabeth Crum met at a home belonging to D.R. Crum near the Esther D. Burney Scholl and surprised Mrs. Crum with a bountiful dinner. Sunday was selected as the day for the reunion because Sunday was the eightieth anniversary of Mrs. Crum and a beautifully appointed birthday cake baked in three tiers and decorated with eighty candles was presented to her on this occasion. The children of Mrs. Crum present were: D.R. Crum and wife, D.L. Crum and wife, Mrs. John S. Whitehurst of Plant City; Dr. M.L. Crum and wife of Arcadia, Mrs. John Tinney of Tampa; and H.J. Crum and wife of Antioch. Grandchildren present included J.G. Tinney and wife of Tampa; Arthur Brooks and wife of Tampa; Mrs. Mamie E. Barnes and C.A. Burdette and wife of Plant City; Mrs. E.O. Burton, Lucile Tinney and Mrs. G.B. Shaw of Tampa; Mrs. O.H. Wade of Plant City, Floyd Crum, Maurice Crum and Minnie Crum of Antioch; Dwight L. Crum, Jr., Ralph Crum and R.W. Burch and wife of Plant City. Great grandchildren present were; Noel Barnes, Marie Burdett, Thelma Burdette, Bettie Rose Wright, Eva Lou Burton, Elizabeth Burton, James Burton, Lorene Crum, Austin Brooks, Yetive Brooks, Frances Webb, Benn Shaw, Tinny Shaw, Elizabeth Whitehurst, Willard Whitehurst, Fritz Whitehurst, Owen Whitehurst, William Whitehurst, J.L. Whitehurst and Chester Whitehurst. From Newspaper 5 May 1933; Crum--Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Crum, eighty-nine who died this morning at her home at Plant City, will be conducted at the First Methodist Church of Plant City tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. She is survived by three sons, E.(D.)R. Crum and E.(D.)L. Crum both of Plant City and W.H.J. Crum of Antioch, and daughter, Mrs. E. Tinney of Tampa. Death and Funerals (from Newspaper 5/5/1933). Plant City, May 5.--(Special) Mrs. Elizabeth Crum, 88, a resident of Plant City for 50 years, died at her home today. She is survived by a daughter, Jrs. John Tinny, Tampa and three sons, W.H.J. Crum, of Thonotosassa, Dave R. Crum and Dwight L. Crum, both of Plant City. Funeral services will be conducted at the home of Dwight L. Crumb, Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. CRUM ON LAST FRIDAY Funeral Services for Pioneer Resident Held on Thursday Afternoon Mrs. Elizabeth Crum, aged pioneer resident of Plant City, died at her home here on South Collins Street last Friday morning at 1:30 o'clock. Funeral services for Mrs. Crum were held Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the First Methodist Church of this city. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of the Green Funeral Home. The services Saturday afternoon were conducted by Rev. Paul A. Fletcher pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. D.F. Sebastain and Dr. A.R. Larrick. Pallbearers at the services were A.J. Pearce, Ted Covington, C.G. Armstrong, Chris McDonald, Dr. Wilber Hicks, J. R. McDonald. Honorary pallbearers were W.M. Cone, Henry Celmens, M.E. Moody, H.B. Wordehoff, H.H. Huff, and Chester Carlton. Mrs. Crum was one of the beloved pioneer residents of this city, having lived for 53 years here. She was a native of Lyons County, Georgia, and came to Plant City in 1881. She was 88 Years of age at the time of her death. Surviving are three sons D.R. Crum, D.L. Crum and W.H. Crum all of this section, one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Tinney of Tampa; and two brothers, M.H. Slone of Plant City and A. Slone of Duke, Florida. Please note: In the Bible Record held by Mrs. Rhoda Whitehurst Morgan, the place of birth for Elizabeth Slone, wife of David Lovett Crum is Erwin County, Ga. Her date of birth was given as 23 Sept.1844
