(Hirst) "Cher", passed away Nov. 10, 2014. Cher was born in New Bedford, MA, May 30, 1960 to her loving parents, Evelyn (Cote) and James A. Hirst. As she was growing up, Cher developed a love for animals of all kinds. She became an animal activist because of her passion for animals. She hand-fed and nursed many orphaned birds and squirrels in her yard and set them free. Cher also fostered many litters of puppies for the SPCA. She belonged to numerous animal associations locally and nationally. Two of her favorite groups were Pet Pal and the Humane Society. Cher was preceded in death by her father, James. She is survived by mother, Evelyn and step father, Peter Hale of Clearwater; her sister, Debbie Shores and brother-in-law Dwayne Shores; niece, Leanna Mazzitelli, all of Largo; stepsister, Sarah Hale of Gloucester, MA; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition, Cher leaves behind her cherished pets, dogs, Daisy and Shasta; cats Leo, Tiberius, Avatar, Pumpkin, and Kitty; and her bunnies Delilah and Samantha. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Cher's name to Pet Pal Animal Shelter, 405 22nd Street, South, St. Petersburg, FL 33712, where her bunnies are, or to Humane Society of Pinellas, 3040 S.R 590, Clearwater, FL 33759, where Avatar is at. The family is planning a "Celebration of Life".
