Anderson McGuire and William Thompson were in Swinfield Hill's Company of Virginia militia and marched to the assistance of General Nathaniel Greene at Guilford Courthouse in North Carolina. The names were found on an original Muster Roll in Colonel Penn's handwriting. This Muster Roll is in the possession of Mr. John Penn, of Martinsville, Virginia.   Of course we know that Sherrod Thompson also served in Capt. Swinfield Hill's Company and I believe that William Thompson was his brother.
An Anderson McGuire is found in Elbert Co., Georgia in 1820 and 1830. There are scarce few Anderson McGuire's enumerated during these years on the U.S. Census Record and this is probably one and the same individual. Elbert County is where Jesse W. Thompson married Permelia. Anderson is conjectured, but not proven, to be Permelia's father.
On the 1820 United States Federal Census Record for Elbert County, Georgia, Anderson had one daughter enumerated that was between 16 and 25 years of age. Permelia was born about 1804.
