Cason's Company of Florida volunteers on January 23, 1837 at Fort Mill's and discharged June 5, 1837 at Fort Mills. He was paid from January 23rd to June 5th, 1837 with 4 months, 14 days pay along with travel expenses; also the soldier is shown to have been absent on a "scout after Indians". The Company was ordered into service by Gen. T.S. Jesup and they had one man killed by Indians on March 11, 1837. Allen Thomas Pvt., was next enrolled in Capt. John E. Tucker's Company, East Florida MountedVolunteers, on June 16, 1837 at Fort Mills and discharged at Fort Gilliland, Florida on December 18,1837. The soldier was paid from June 16th to December 18th, 1837, 6 months and 3 days with 3 days travel pay, 20 miles to rendezvous and 40 miles from place of discharge to home. The other companies that Allen Thomas served in are also found in the records of the Adjutant General, with his final discharge being on April 6, 1841. The Second Seminole Indian War came to an official end on August 12, 1842, with final treaty ratification coming in 1845. No records exist to suggest Allen Thomas ever served in the Civil War even though two of his younger brothers did. Perhaps his age prevented him from serving, as he would have been in is mid to late 40s.Three of Allen's sons did serve in the Civil War and records exist to document that service. Source: Richard Thomas The only child enumerated in Allen and Cynthia Thomas' home in 1850 is Edicois. It would appear that George Washington, Andrew, Emily and Mary would not be their biological children.
