Notes
a. Note:   Not proven to be the daughter of Jonathan 'John' and Mary (Womack) Spradling, but was involved in an adultery case with William Wofford in 1778 in Burke Co., NC where probable brothers, John Spradling was a witness, and William Spradling supplied the bail. Oliver Spradling, proven son of John and Mary (Womack) Spradling lived in Burke Co. NC at this time, too. Thomas Womack was also a witness, the half-brother of Mary (Womack) Spradling. Lucia Marie later married William Woffard and they moved to Franklin Co., GA where an 1803 court record stated that Jonathan & Mary Spradlings children and grandchildren lived. See below. Note: William Wofford was a Lt. Colonel in the Revolutionary War Battle of Camden August 16, 1780 Burke County Regiment of Militia detachment, led by Lt. Col. William Wofford, with unknown number of men 'Marriage of Mr. William Washington Wafford and Eugenie Leignon [Attakapas Parish, LA] Today, May 21, 1807, having observed the formalities, gathered the necessary information, and made the lawful proclamation, appeared before me Don Michel Bernard Barriere; priest of this county, duly authorized for this function, Mr. William Washington Wafford, native of North Carolina, Rutherford County, legitimate son of Mr. William Wafford and Marie Spadling, both living in the state of Georgia. (Note: Lucia may have used her middle name after the problems they had in Burke Co., NC) The said William Washington Wafford has been living in this Attakapas County for about 18 months, and has proved that he has reached majority, is master of himself, and free from any commitment on impediment. Mlle. Eugenie Leignon, native of this parish, legitimate daughter of Louis Leignon, a Brodeaux native, and Joseph Thibaud, native of the post vincennes in the United States and living in Attakapas County. The said Eugenie Leignon is duly authorized by her parents here present. Both parties asked me to receive their marriage vows which they want to contract before me. Upon which, I Don Michel Bernard Barriere, priest mentioned above, declare that I received the marriage vows that the said parties declare to contract now, promising to spend their lives in a perfect and indissoluble union. Since the said William Washington Wafford belongs to the religion called Baptist and that Eugenie Leignon belongs to the Roman Catholic Religion, the said William Washington Wafford promised his wife that she would be free to practice her religion and that the children born from their marriage will be brought up according to our Roman Catholic Religion' (Information about their son, William Washington Wofford, is from Beth Walton)
