a. Note:   pporting her two children, Russell Albert James and Anthony Jon Dorhauer, as a single mother she found it difficult to make ends meet and moved with the two boys into her Father and Mothers house in Lillyfield Sydney. Finally the two boys were sent to Boys Town while Gladys went to the Snowy Mountains to gain work on the Hydro Electric scheme. It was here she met and married Gunnar Pettersen, who had arrived from Norway some years earlier. They spent their lives together ,living in Canberra, until Gunnar died and Gladys eventually moved to the Gold Coast Queensland to live with her elder sister Jean Maittlen. Gladys died there on the 8 July 1995. While they lived in Canberra Gunnar and Gladys were very keen Trout fishermen and campers, and spent many weeks each year in the snowy Mountains fishing the lakes and many streams. Russell and Jon both spent some time with them in their Government rented unit. Russell worked there for about 18 months before moving back to Sydney, while Jon attended high school and then worked in Canberra. It was here thet Jon met his future wife Jenifer Williams. Gladys was cremated at Allambe Gardens Crematorium, Nerang QLD. Her ashes were scattered with those of her sister Elvie on the Sunshine coast of QLD.
