Note: According to notes from Joseph Seiler, dated January 22, 1966: 'The second eldest of the children, he was probably the best balanced man among the four sons (the others being Lewis, Christian, and Clifford). Tallest at about 5'9", he had a good appearance, was well-built and well-spoken, was calm under all but the worst stress, and plied his painting trade and qualities until he became the Contracting Estimator for the Griewe Company, which handled large jobs such as the State Capital Building in Columbus, Ohio. Two of his sons followed the same trade with success. Mostly business-like, there is little more that can be added to his story.'
