Note: According to Joseph A. Seiler in notes dated January 22, 1966: Athletically inclined in his younger days, Frank enjoyed amateur football in Sunday leagues. A machinist, Frank (also known as 'Legs') worked most of his life for the Pennsylvania Railroad at Eastern and Delta Avenues on Cincinnati's east-side, near the Ohio River, although living most of his later life on Yoast Avenue in Bellevue, Kentucky, just across the Ohio from Cincinnati and slightly upstream. His chief recreation during these years was found in a bowling alley there, where he was considered above average in ability. As a youngster, he was rather sickly, and only gained his full growth and health after serving in the US Navy during World War One. About 5' 10" tall, he had a dark complexion, and as he aged, he gained weight, finally arriving at about 190 pounds. A social drinker who loved his beer, he cut quite a swath in his youth. Although not a high school graduate, he had a very logical, incisive mind and a great deal of common sense. He was well-spoken and to the point, and difficult to deceive, having an unusual insight into people and events.'
