It was as a naturalist that his wonderful talent as a photographer, writer and painter developed Moreover Ted, as a self-taught botanist, became a recognized expert in the flora of the Pacific North-West, and was the author of numerous books on B. Ted 's love and skill in photography came early Some will remember the "Royal Smile", a wonderful picture of King George & Oueen Elizabeth taken in 1939, which was distributed over much of the world Ted served in the middle-east in WWII as a navigator with the RAFand later, as a navigation instructor and photo-interprerer with the RCAF, leaving the service with the rank of Squadron Leader. Ted developed, in the 1960's, a consuming interest in wine making and became one of the founding members of the Victoria Winemakers Guild. He was also very instrumental in establishing the BCAmateur Winemakers Association and served in most of the essential positions, including President, of both the Guild and the Association. Ted wrote two important books on wine-making, one "Making Better Wines ' is recognized by many as perhaps the most authoritative and useful book on this subject. But best of all, Ted is remembered as a very loving father, husband brother, and friend to all those he met He touched all of our lives!
