Note: A brother of Lochiel of the '45 He was a doctor. A local tradition of the Trossachs (recorded by Rev. W. Wilson from old men's tales) says that Dr. Archibald Cameron was captured at Brenachoil, on Loch Katrine side, in 1783, after he had returned to Scotland to attempt to raise a new army for Prince Charlie. He was sent for trial in the South and executed at Tyburn. His captors were a party of Lord George Beauclerk's regiment, then stationed at the little fort near Inversnaid. The fort is now a farmhouse, but is still known as "The Garrison".
