Notes from Curtiss Klein Nov 07: I found that Joseph Klein was born in Koppenbach, Bavaria in the parish of Waidhofen. His father - Philip Klein born March 16, 1812 in Pleitersheim. Philip married Magdalena Leibig Aug. 02, 1842 in Koppenbach. She died Nov. 16, 1842. Philip then married Anna Maria Hecht on May 16, 1843 in Koppenbach. Anna Maria was born in Eglersried, parish Weichs. Her parents: Johann Hecht, small farmer and sacristan and his wife Juliane maiden name Huber. She died March 08. 1877. Klein Philipp born March 16, 1812 in Pleitersheim (in the east of Bad Kreuznach in Rheinhessia) parents: Englbert Klein, small farmer in Koppenbach 10, and his wife Ottilie.
Notes from Curtiss Klein Jan 08: I have received confirmation from the Diocese of Mainz that Phillip Klein was born in Pleitersheim. Philip married Magdalena Leibig Aug. 02, 1842 in Koppenbach. She died Nov. 16, 1842. Philip then married Anna Maria Hecht on May 16, 1843 in Koppenbach. Anna Maria was born in Eglersried, parish Weichs. Klein Philipp - born March 16, 1812 in Pleitersheim (east of Bad Kreuznach in Rheinhessia and South West of Mainz) parents: Englbert Klein, smallfarmer in Koppenbach 10(house number), and his wife Maria Ottilia Fries Englbert Klein b. October 25, 1763 son of Georg Klein and Maria Anna NN (no last name) Georg Klein born abt 1738 (guess) son of Englbert Klein and Anna Eve NN (no last name) Englbert Klein born abt 1713 (guess). He died on 3 Apr 1878 in Ship Rotterdam. He was buried in At Sea. Godfather is Philipp Friez (Fries). Jacob married (2) Magdalena LEIBIG daughter of Anton LEIBIG and Maria LEIBIG on 2 Aug 1842 in Koppenbach, parish Waidhofen, Bavaria. Magdalena was born in 1812 in Woerth/Elsass. She died on 16 Nov 1842 in Koppenbach, parish Waidhofen, Bavaria.

According to the Castle Garden site, Philip arrived in the US. Same with Johannes and Peter who supposedly died on the trip. Was this just a copy of what was on the embarkation list and not a real accounting of who landed? There is an "X" by Philip's name.
