Note: The 1900 Iowa Census for Carroll Co., Roselle Township shows Anton as a farmer. They had a 16 year old boy named John Schmitz living on the property listed as a "servant" and farm laborer. Anton's father was listed born in Germany while his mother was born in Iowa. ST. He reminds me of my brother, Harv. All the children are dark except for Andrew who was blond, blue-eyed. I, too, have one sister, Vera, who is blond and blue-eyed. According to the 1880 Census, Anton at the age of 15 was living with the Morris Larkins family consisting of 6 members, in Wisconsin. The Larkins were of Irish descendent. Apparently Anton was working at a farm hand or laborer. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at Holy Angels church at Roselle. Requiem mass will be read by the Rev. Father Louis Anthofer. Burial will be in Holy Angels cemetery. Anton Hugeback was born Oct. 6, 1864, at Honey Creek. Sauk county, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage in January, 1889 to Miss Anna Luehrs of Halbur. Surviving are the widow and ' seven children: Mrs. Peter Schmitz; (Maynie), of Arcadia; John Hugeback, of Willey; Mrs. Louis Runiper. (Carrie), of Roselle, Joe Hugeback, of Halbur; Louis Hugeback, of Maple River; Matt and Andrew, of Roselle, the latter at home. | He also leaves two brothers, John and Nick Hugeback, both of New Hampton, and two half brothers, Martin Franzwa, of Mondovi,Wis., and Peter Franzwa, of St. Paul, Minn. Mr. Hugeback was a farmer but was forced to retire from work last March when he was taken ill. He had suffered two strokes and the third seizure occurred last night. He was tenderly cared for by his wife and son Andrew, and they were later assisted by Mrs. John Hoffman of Roselle, a nurse. He died well fortified with the last sacraments of the Catholic church. All the children were at home at the time of his death. The Carroll Times, Thursday, March 21, 1907 Anton Hugebach and Fred Franzwa returned Tuesday from North Washington, Chicasaw Co., Iowa. They were called there by the death of the latter's father last Thursday. He was 82 years old. Fred Franzwa is a stepson.
