a. Note:   See LDS Microfiche No. 604826, page 19 which states:
  Hugobach: Elizabeth d btwn 1860-1870 Joseph: d after 1880
It also states, "The following may be buried in this cemetery Our Lady of Loretto Cemetery, St. Mary's of Loretto Cemetery, Roman Catholic Chapel Cemetery, Denzer Catholic Cemetery" . The above seem to be at the same location in the Town of Honey Creek, Sauk Co., Wisconsin.

According to the 1860 US Census for Wisconsin, Joseph and Elisabeth had immigrated from Oldenburg Germany with their son Arnold around 1850. Who was Henry B. who immigrated from Oldenburg, Germany on 11 Jun., 1861 from Breman to Baltimore on the ship "Albert"? Henry traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio then to Indiana where he settled. Could he be related? There is a "H. H. Hugebach also from Ellenstedt that petitioned to leave Germany for America at that same time as Joseph.
Sandy Stiemke states that she found records showing a Joseph Hugeback that died in Chickasaw Co. Iowa in 1886. This conflicts with the microfiche data above, though Joseph could have moved to Iowa with Arnold.

Thank you for your request. Ellenstedt is a small village in the community of Goldenstedt, Landkreis Vechta, Niedersachsen. According to our copies of the catholic church records, the ancestor of your husband Arnold Hugeback was born September 1, 1824 and baptized one day later in the parish church in Goldenstedt. His parents Joseph Hugeback (or Hogeback) and Elisabeth nee Muhle (not Howle) lived as farm workers in Ellenstedt. Their marriage took place in the parish church of Visbek (neighbourhood of Goldenstedt) September 2, 1823, because the bride was born there. Joseph Hugeback was born in the Lutheran parish of Wildeshausen, in the small village Kleinenkneten. I cannot find him in our record copies, because the Lutheran church records are not here but in Oldenburg. From 1699 until 1810, the catholic inhabitants of Wildeshausen must visit the Lutheran church there.
The origin of the Hugeback/Hogeback family is an old farm in Ellenstedt, mentioned already in 1501 (Henrik Hugeback). There was also an old Freudenberg farm in Ellenstedt.
Here are two excerpts from our church records:
KB Visbek St. Vitus, Band 6 (Trauungen 1811-1837), S. 61: Trauung am 2. September 1823: Joan Joseph Hogeback, ehelicher Sohn von Bernd Hogeback und Helena Elisabet Kr?ger, Heuerleute in Kleinen Kneten Kirchspiel Wildeshausen, mit Elisabet Muhle [getauft 9.5.1796], eheliche Tochter von Bernd Muhle und Gertrud Rohe, H?usler in Visbeck. - Trauzeugen: Joan Gerd Muhle, H?uslers Sohn in Visbeck, und Carl B?sken, K?sters Sohn in Visbeck.

To collect more informations, we need more time and a fee of 40,- Euro. But you can use our records also in the United States, because the mormons have copies of all church records of the diocese of Muenster, including Goldenstedt and Visbek. They are available at the mormon's research stations.
Concerning the family Hugeback in Kleinenkneten, maybe you can receive more information by the "Buerger- und Geschichtsverein" in Wildeshausen (e-mail-address: bgv.wildeshausen@web.de)

  Dear Mrs. Hugeback,
your mail reached me, but it was a little bit difficult to unterstand the translation. Nevertheless I found some Informations for you in our archive:

They married the 7.2.1792 in Wildeshausen and were living in a village, named Kleinenkneten. They were farmworkers.
