Note: There is a George LaPrelle listed in the census as being born in NY and living at the time in MI. His birth date would have been 1825.
2007 from Rose Leprell - Gregory Lapperell, was a house builder, was a widower in Montana, and Michigan, (census) was in the Infantry in Civil War on the Union side. His brother George traveled with him, was listed as a miner, laborer, etc.

This appears to be George, though he's only 15 and appears on the census with his father in 1850, but that doesn't mean he didn't follow or go with his brother Gregory that same year to Michigan.

The first settlers in the country located on the Cheboygan River near its mouth, as stated in the history of Cheboygan village. As in all this lake country where fishing was engaged in the manufacture of fish barrels was a pioneer industry. Lumbering soon followed, and some of the early settlers came to work in the mills and subsequently settled upon land or engaged in other pursuits.
In the summer of 1850,....William H. Maultby located in Inverness, E. E. Dodge, John LaRue, August Grimm, Sebastian Nepot, Michael Shields, Jacob Wilson and George Laprelle.
