Notes
a. Note:   From: Scott Jacoby Mar 11:
"Well, I said I was going to send you some information on my theory about the Jacoby lineage some time. I'll give it a shot and please let me know if it makes sense or if I'm way off. I'll try my best to write it out.
Theory - William, Hubert, and Mathhias were the youngest of brothers of a bigger family. They actually had siblings named Michael (Michel), Phillipus, Joannes, Peter, Boy (twin to Peter), and Margaret. Their parents are Peter and Margaret Schilz Jacobi. I know I have read in a couple different places that Margaret was Mertens or another last name but I don't think so. If my theory is correct, we have current family members in Europe and we can trace our lineage back to approx 1724.
First, we have to understand a little more about Wallendorf (Vollandorf), Rhineland (Rheinland), Germany. It currently and always has been a small village with a population of 300 or so and resides on the Saur (Saar) River across from the country of Luxembourg. You probably already know all this but this helps put my theory into perspective. The area is probably the most war torn place in European history....the Rheinland district has been owned by Rome, Austria, France, Luxembourg, Prussia, Germany, and others throughout history and sometimes more than once. I found a really good link (if I can find it again), I'll send it. After knowing the history, I was able to understand that the Jacobi family COULD match up with another individual putting together the family lineage and we may not know it. For example, knowing that we consider ourselves as German but the area of the Rhineland was owned by France and Luxembourg at one time could mean Michael could be Michel and Joannes could be Jean Pierre and so on.
Second, the links of the families of Wallendorf, Eifel, Germany. The first link eventually tells us the most about the Jacobi family. At first glance, it does not look like much at all but I'll explain. The second link is a lot of the same information but even more jumbled. The most important piece from the second link is to scroll to the top and notice that this is family information from St Peter & Paul (possibly birth/wedding information from the catholic church in the region) from 1744 - 1899.
  http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~pick/wallendo.txt
  http://www.genealogienetz.de/vereine/wgff/trier/Familienbuecher/Wallendorf.html#J
Back to the first link, if you copy the Jacobi family and paste it into a basic word document AND then sort by Husband/Wife combination you come up with the following:
1 14 1821 JACOBI PETER SCHILZ MARGARET MICHAEL 1 25 1823 JACOBI PETER SCHILZ MARGARET PHILLIPUS 6 15 1825 JACOBI PETER SCHILZ MARGARET JOANNES 12 22 1827 JACOBI PETER SCHILZ MARGARET PETER 12 22 1827 JACOBI PETER SCHILZ MARGARET BOY 1 23 1829 JACOBI PETER SCHILZ MARGARET MARGARET 6 12 1832 JACOBI PETER SCHILZ MARGARET PETER 9 13 1835 JACOBI PETER SCHILZ MARGARET HUBERTUS 8 23 1838 JACOBI PETER SCHILZ MARGARET MATTHIAS
Immediately, we notice that William is missing but look at the Matthias and Hubertus. Their birthdates are exact. So, we have to ask ourselves...how many Jacobi's are born on that same day with the same name as Matthias/Hubertus in a village of about 300 people??? My guess is none. I think we can reasonably assume this is our family. You can attempt to unscramble the rest of the Jacobi families from Wallendorf as it is confusing but you can see there are more of us OR you can click on the following link:
  http://www.deltgen.com/pubtng/getperson.php?personID=I146357&tree=Deltgen
This is our family in a Luxumbourg genealogy database (very well done). Again, it doesn't look like it at first but look closer at Michel, Phillip, Jean, and Marguerite. Bingo! The birthdates match to a tee. Peter Jacobi is now Pierre Jacoby and we know he was born 6/4/1793 to Jacques and Marie Berschied in Wallendorf.
Whoever put the Jacobi family information into this database is probably a native of Luxumbourg because of the slight twist on the same names...Michel v. Michael, Margaret v. Marguerite, and so on. This makes sense because we know Wallendorf/Rhineland is located across the river from Luxembourg and has been controlled by France and Luxembourg throughout history. Another logical guess is that this individual is from Michel Jacoby lineage. If you follow Michel link you will notice he is the only one that has a 'note' section mentioned on it. If you click it, it says there is a living member of the family but doesn't give us any more information. May be we can find this individual through roots.com or ancestory.com via the forums...don't know.
Any ways, back to our family. It looks like Jacques was born 9/24/1757 in Wallendorf to Jean Pierre (probably John Peter to us) and Marie Dury . Jean Pierre has a brother Nicolas born 3/5/1753. Jean Pierre was born Abt 1724 and Marie Dury Abt 1727.
Well, there you go, that is my theory. I spent hours and hours going back and forth and this is what I came up with. Let me know your thoughts when you have some time. And, again, thank you so much for putting all of that information together. It is amazing work!
Hope you are feeling better and sorry for the long email.
  Take care, Scott"

I did receive an email back from a woman that had documented graves in Aurora, Il. In my new book, it says that William's niece had emigrated to Aurora so I started searching....she says that in 1910 there was a John Jacoby (older) living with Catherine Jacoby Hoffman and Mathias Hoffman. John Jacoby would have to be the older brother of the 3 Jacoby brothers. She said there was another Jacoby family in the cemetery which may actually related. That crazy and exciting...
