He married Carrie.
Bert and Carrie both had suffered strokes, leaving each with one side paralyzed. They luckily had opposited sides affected, and helped each other get dressed, etc. They laughed about it all the time.
Bert's body was donated to the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines. There were no memorial services. Arrangements were made by Hamilton's Funeral Home.
Bert had been a general contractor.
