a. Note:   William Martindale Jr. was a Patriot of the American Revolution. He served as a Private in the Army R6980 in the South Carolina Line. Enlisted in 1777 or 1778, served under Captains William Young, and Benjamin Wofford, and Colonel Brandon. He was in scouting parties against the Tories and the Indians. His brother James served along with him although at a higher rank William moved from PA to Laurens and Spartenburg Counties in SC in 1802 and then moved back north to Warren County, Ohio and finally to Wayne County, Indiana.
