I have a copy ofhis license from the Federal Communications Commission for 4/20/66 to4/20/71. Address at that time was 8016 Truxton Ave., L.A. 90045. Hewas licensed beginning in 1924. On Hand: Employee I.D. card for Douglas Aircraft Company, Inc., SantaMonica, California. Age 29, height 6-1, weight 165, hair brown, eyesblue & hazel. His left eye was blue and his right eye was brown (orhazel, the opinion differs from time to time.) Selective Service Registration Certificate. Address at that time 16Oct. 1940 was 25 43 Wellesley Ave., Los Angeles, CA. Noted is thefact that his eyes are of different colors. He has a scar on his righthand. No description of it, tho. Selective Service Notice of Classification has him classified as 3-A -dated 15 April 1943. He would never be drafted cuz he had no vision in one eye, he was 35years old by then and was heavily involved in the aircraft industry -defense industry. EMPLOYMENT SERVICE RECORD Tool Engineer at Northrop Aircraft, Inc. from 5/13/40 to 5/15/42. Heserved Northrop as a member of the Check Group, Tool Design, Head ToolPlanner, General Leadsman. He went to Toledo to help convert a WillysOverland plant to aircraft small parts. 18 men of a variety of skillswere hired by Willys. They all quit by October of that year. Scottyand family returned to California and was rehired by Northrop10/28/42. He spent the rest of the war years traveling for Northrop toWashington, DC, Detroit, New York, Chicago, etc. Was gone most of thetime. He was laid off on 11/18/49. Tool Engineer in Departments 25 and 61-63 at Hughes Tool company,Aircraft Division, Culver City during 11/28/49 to 9/3/51 to 4/18/58. I have a copy of his resume which covers his career in aircraft fromhis beginning in Santa Monica with Donald Douglas, Sr., in July of1925. Note: Myocardial insufficiency due to Arteriolbiotic Cardiovascular Disease. All the personal information on his death certificate is accurate. Hedied on a Sunday afternoon, 7 December, 1969 just after visiting hislatest g.child, Christine, in Vallejo. His occupation is listed as Designer for 40 years, last employer:Hughes Aircraft Co. He died at home and was taken to Daniel Freeman Hospital on 333 NorthPrairie Avenue in Inglewood, LA county. He was cremated (after beingembalmed and having an autopsy done) at Forest Lawn on 12/12/69. There was a "Slumber Room" set up for a cupple of days. Also, amemorial service about which I remember only a little. The ministerwas a stranger to us. We sat in a side room which was curtained forprivacy. A lot of people that had known him over the years were there- from aircraft people to hight school days. A few gathered at thehouse afterward. Alda and I were staying at the house with mom. Frank had sat with herthe night of dad's death. He had been dead for some time before mom discovered it. He wasnapping, she thought. The paramedics were called but it was useless.
