Note: brothers marriage to Ann M.Robinson 6/8/1871. His brothers name was Harmon E. and was the oldest of Ezekiels children. I have several photos of Edgar and Ellen. KCK directory has Edgar living at 1269 Hasbrook 1925 through 1934. He may have moved to that address before 1925. This was the oldest record I could find. His son Ernest (William E.) lived across the street at 1260 and Uncle Jack and Aunt Annie lived next door west of Ernest at 1262 (1927 directory). Aunt Annie was Bessies sister. Jack was Andrew J. Wilson. Next to Edgar and Ella's headstones are 2 headstones. The name of Maude Tracy (1892-1917) on one and the other reads George A Tracy (1885-1891). No info on these people. Edgar was a laborer at Pete Bros (Colgates) and later a janitor at the Armourdale Baptist Church.Services were at the church with Simmons Funeral Home in charge. Burial at Olathe Cem. near Ezekiel and Miranda.I have his death certificate.
Update 2/26/01 : I believe that Maude and George were Edgars children as the dates are right and the headstones are similar. Further
confirmation is anticipated by a census search. For now were are entering them as his children.
8/01: Found obit in Kansan and KC Star. Simmons Funeral Home and burial in Olathe. Heirs listed were Ernest at 724 So Valley, Paul in Springfield Mo. Horton in Oklahoma City and Gertrude in KCMo 3233 Cherry
and his wife Ella at the home 1269 Hasbrook KCK.
1875 State census Oxford Johnson Co: Living with his father 53 and Miranda 40. He is 19. Also in the home are Frances Stotts 17 and Edith age 13. 1885 State census has E.S.Tracy age 29 and Ella 28 living in Oxford Twnsp. No children are listed.Where were William Ernest and Gertrude?
1895 Kansas state census Olathe Twsp: Edd Tracy age 39, Mrs age38, Ernest age 17, Gertie 14 and Paul 3.
1900 KS census of Olathe: Edgar 44 Ella (Nancy Ellen)43, Ernest 22, Gertrude 19,Paul 8 and Horton 2. Edgar is a farmer.
1910 Olathe City census has Edgar 55 a farmer and Ella 53 living on Grant St Ward 1 with them are Paul 18 a plumber and Horton 12. 1915 Olathe (State Census) Edgar age 59 Ellen 58 Horton 18 were living next door to William 37 and Bessie 34 Keith 11 Tom 8 Leroy 4 and Gerald 2.
1925 census of Wyandotte Co KS: Edgar age 69 and Ella age 68 at 1269 Hasbrook
Edgar was probably named after his mothers brother Edgar Amos Starr.
Info from M.Pirtle Apr 2004: Edgar and Ellen ran a grocery store at Lackman and Kansas City Rd about 1906. This would be after they quit farming and before they moved to the Armourdale area in KCK.
