Note: ne but I plan to fix that. Miranda has a large stone that says "wife of Ezekiel" on it. Her stone also has an inscription on it that says "our mother". The sexton says he is buried next to her. He is in Lot 3 Blk 149 1st edition east half. I have found some records that show Tracy spelled Tracey concerning Ezekiel and his son Edgar. Also I have found Ezekiel spelled Ezekial. His middle initial is probably "E" as the state census of Kansas 1915 shows it as such.At age 92 he was living with his son Arthur and family in Aubry KS. A 1903 picture (4 generations) shows him to be a tall slender man with a long white beard. The picture shows Edgar, Ernest (William E.) and Keith (Ernests firstborn) at about 6mos of age. I have found Ezekiel Tracy in the 1860 Illinois census Livingston Co Indian Grove Township (page 917). This I believe is accurate and bears out the fact that his youngest (Arthur) was born in Illinois. The timing is right as well. Update 5/22/00 : Found Ezekiel in the 1850 census in town of Sidney NY Delaware Co. He is listed as Elihu (possibly his middle name) but we think this is a misprint as he is listed again in the same place 1855. In the 1850 census are listed his wife and daughter Ellen at 7 mos. and Harmon at 5 yrs. At this time we are sure Ezekiels father is Jedediah and mother Sally. The 1855 NY state census shows Ezekiel in the same place as Elihu was listed and with Ellen age 6 and Harmon age 9. Update 1/02: Found Ezekiel and family 1860 census Illinois, Livingston Co, Indian Grove Twnsp, Fairbury post office. Listed are his wife Lucy (however it looks like Lura) same age 37 as Ezekiel. Listed are Harmon 14, Ellen 11 and Edgar 4. This was 2 years before Arthur was born. Living with them were 2 farm hands ages 21 and 27. The family left Illinois sometime after 1865 and moved to Westport MO where Lucy died in 1867. The Illinois state census of 1865 lists the correct age groups for all family members except there are more males listed who may have been hired hands or other family members living with them at that time. They first show up in Kansas in the 1870 census. 1870 Jo Co Kansas census: Ezekiel with 4 children no wife and farming.Farm is located near Coffey Creek at what is now 159th and Pflumm which is 4 miles west and 3 south of Stanley. The Johnson Co Executive Airport is across the road north. Landing approach equipment is located about where the old house probably was. The 1874 atlas of Jo Co shows the J.Robinson farm to be across the road in that year and the Allen McConnell farm north of it. I have this page of an original atlas. 1871 : Ezekiel married Maranda Stotts. This was her third marriage. 1875 State census: Ezekiel age 53 Miranda 40 and ES (Edgar)19. Also Edith Stotts 13 and Francis Stotts 17 are with them. They are by Miranda's second husband James Rector Stotts. 1880 Jo Co census: With Miranda and Queen (Edith Stotts)Irwin C Stotts is not listed. Margaret, her dau. by Jacob Hamby is not listed. August 2002: 1885 Oxford Twnsp. census lists only E.Tracey age 65 and M.Tracey age 54. This would be off for Ezekiel b 1823,should read age62. Miranda would be 52. 1895 Oxford census: E.Tracy age 72 and M.J.Tracy age 61 no children living at home. Farm was 88 acres.Miranda died in 1897. 1900 and 1910 census of St Clair Co MO has Ezekiel living with his daughter Ellen and her husband St Clair McConnell. The farm was free and clear and located in Center Township. Sometime after 1910 he moved in with his youngest son Arthur in Aubry Township Johnson Co KS. 1905 and 1915 Kansas state census Aubry: he was living with Arthur and family. His middle initial is E in this census. Have not seen this before. He is listed as E.E.Tracy age 92 in the 1915. Aug 2002: Sat Ezekiels headstone 8/29/02 Dec 2002: Found his obit in the Olathe Mirror Apr 20,1916. He was hit by a Missouri Pacific passenger train on the 13th and burial date apparently the 15th. He was 93. As a member of the Odd Fellows he was a firm supporter of its principles. Burial was under direction of the lodge. The obit mentioned that Ezekiel and Miranda had two children by this marriage that died in infancy. Feb 2003: Another Olathe obit refers to Ezekiel as "Grandpa" and says that he was very hard of hearing and that he probably never heard the train that killed him instantly near his home in Stillwell. At the time he was living with Arthur and had been for several years. He was one of the areas oldest citizens.
Note: Ezekiel is buried in Olathe Cem. in the northeast part of it. He has no headsto
