Levi is mentioned in his fathers will of 1847 as a land owner.
Mar 2005: Found Levi in the 1880 cenus of Ford Co Illinois Sullivant Township. Wife Josephine and dau Inez. Ford is the adjacent county east of Livingston Co where his brother Ezekiel and family were located in the 1860's. Levi is 44, Josephine is 42 and Inez 10. Levi b NY/F&M b NY. Josephine is IND/IND/IND Inez is Ill/NY/IND
Levi is a farmer.
Couldn't find him in the 1870 census.
He served in the Civil War Enlisted 11 Nov 1863 and mustered out 8 July 1865. He served with the 16th(or 116th) Co G and 129th Co E Infantry Regiments of Illinois.Records show he was transfered from the 129th to the 16th Reg but does not appear on the roster of the 116th Reg
An application for pension was made by his wife while she was living in Olathe Kansas. Josephine is a widow in the 1900 census of Olathe KS age 62. Levi died between 1895 and 1900. Ezekiel was living closeby in Oxford Township from about 1869 to 1916. 1895 State census of Kansas Olathe. Levi is 58 and a stone mason living in Olathe with wife Josephine age 56 and dau Inez age 22 (a milliner)
Have not found their burial plots. Do not know if Josephine remarried or if Inez ever married.
Sept 2008: Discovered a gravesite on The Digital Cemetery website belonging to L.C.Tracey Co G 116th Ill Inf. section 02c (this is the location of Digital Cemetery system) in Olathe Memorial Cem.This has to be his grave.It is nearly illegible.
Dec 2008: Brian, the cemetery caretaker said records show 1900 as the year Levi died but does not have the month. He will check the old written records and get back to me.
Old records show his age at death as 64 but no month or date is given. This would be off 2 years if he died in 1900. Location of grave: 2nd addition, block 2, Lot 230
June 2010: Located his wife Josephine's grave next to his. She is in 2-2-230-S2 no stone.
Note: Levi is 22 in the Otego NY census of 1860 and living with his mother Sally age
