Note: moved to Ohio when he was nine.He was educated in common schools and Carlyle University. He learned the plasterers trade and followed it for 30 years.Moved to Logan Co ILL in 1861 and in 1865 moved to Mason Co ILL. He bought and improved a quarter section of land where he lived until 1877 when he came to Taylor Co where he had 240 acres of well improved land and good house occupied by his son who works the farm. Mr May devoted his full time to raising livestock and had a fine herd. He was a man of energy and enterprise and took more than a passing interest in public affairs.
