a. Note:   Oklahoma Indian territory March 29, 1899. He homesteaded in the Indianterritory in 1898. He is remembered as being kind and gentle. While riding ahorse, they fell, and his leg was broken. He died shortly afterwardsin the local hospital with pneumonia.
  Lucille Burgess Mackie lived with these, her grandparents, while shewas growing up, to take care of them. (from age of 9-18) In 1922 hegave land to the district in Pie Flat, OK for a public school to beused in that way. The property would then revert back to familyownership if school moved. That school burned and Lucille lost herfirst dictionary in that fire.
