Notes
a. Note:   s on tampicohistoricalsociety.com, from census, and Chris Meek's site: http://members.aol.com/chrismeek/Vk1.htm#P1, as well as verifying some info from other folks entries on ancestry.com. Got word back from my father, John Meek, from Glen, from John, from Richard, that the document on the TAHS website, whence most of the following information came, was copied from "The History of Whiteside County," of which he has a physical example.
Richard was a Farmer and Blacksmith
Checked for him in the IL 1850 Census.
1850 census shows him in Hamilton, Lee Co, IL. Also in the household were Hannah Meek, age 38 (wife, ages match), Mary, age 13, Martha, F, age 11 (this should be Nathan, M, age 11), William, age 8, Nancy, age 6, and Elizabeth, age 3.
TAHS article says about Richard Meek's children: The living are Mary, wife of Christopher Renner, of Nebraska; Nathan, our subject [the document was about Nathan Meek]; William, a farmer near Walnut, Bureau County; Nancy, wife of Eli Harris of Iowa; Betsy, wife of Reason Renner (prob. Elizabeth), of Walnut; Samuel, a resident of Nebraska Since the kid in question was NATHAN, my ancestor, and it's probable that he wasn't a girl named Martha in 1850, I assume that the census ennumerator was a little deaf.
Note:   Please copy at your own risk! I've gotten this info from a historical document
