Notes
a. Note:   Godparent was Leonard Knapp This from Margaret Ann(Dannemiller) Walch; 'told about shoveling coal on the shipcoming over. I believe he was a stow-away. Can't find him onthe passenger lists. Talked about a boy who had found an appleand hid it from the guard for fear that it would be taken awayfrom him. Family story about him and his brother or cousin Johnleaving home as to be going to work on bicycles to pass theborder guards. Another tells of being hidden in a hay wagon andhaving the guards piercing the hay with bayonets and not findingthem. Possibly having been bribed not to. He lived with aGeorge Klein in Akron when he first came here.
