Note: Grady graduated from Rhinehardt College in north Georgia and then attended the University of Georgia where he was a member of the varsity football and baseball teams. In 1917 he joined the U.S. Army wherein he seved for 32 years retiring as a Colonel of Infantry in 1949. He served in both WWI and WWII. Between the wars, he served 3 years each in China and Hawaii. During WWII while with the FIFTH U.S. Army in Italy, he was awarded the Bronze Star. Following the war he served in the Philippines and as Professor of Military Science and Tactics, University of Kansas.
