Note: Joseph and Lucy moved west to the outskirts of Chicago and Then to Bainbridge, Kalamazoo Co., MI. In October of 1845, they Returned to Brookfield, Tioga Co., PA. They bought a farm north of Westfield, PA., On the California road. Joseph was an avid reader, making himself a well informed man. He was strongly opposed to slavery and he named his youngest son, David (Wilmot) after a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, whose Famous Wilmost Proviso would have prohibited slavery in all of the territories won from Mexico at the close of the war.

January 12, 1995: I Called Tioga County (717 724-9380) to locate a Death certificate but was told that none existed before 1893.
