Note: William Prothero came to America with his parents. He is found in the 1850 Census in Iowa and then nothing is heard of him again. His
grandparents also came with the family and they are not in the Census for
Iowa. They arrived at New Orleans and because they werein their sixties,
it is possible that they settled somewhere near there. It is also
possible that William, who was by then 15, went back to stay and help his
grandparents.
