a. Note:   There is a William and Elizabeth Prothero listed on the ship's register along with Edward and Anne Prothero and their children when they came to
 America. They landed at New Orleans, Louisana, but they are not found
 with the family again in Iowa. Edward and Anne are on the 1850 Census for
 Iowa. Their daughter Sarah Ann was also born in Iowa. It is logical to
 think that the parents settled down soon after arrival, as they were in
 their sixties and the journey across the plains was still on foot or by
 wagon. Edward and Anne's oldest son, William, is listed on the 1850 Iowa
 Census, but then disappears. It is possible that he returned to his
 grandparents to help them.
