Note: d another report that says he was born in Eureka in 1872, if he was born at this later time his mother may have only been sixteen years old. He had two brothers: Will and Lee. Lee went to Wisconsin and became a Sunday school superindent and Will went to California to become an auctioneer. Charles was an accomplished violinist and he was a very talented artist. He had a weakness for pretty young women. Young Charles enjoyed fishing, he once caught a huge buffalo carp in the Mississippi River.(We have a picture of him with it on his head) The Snooks were from an upper class family. Charles was suave attractive and full of charm. Little has been found to prove him a good man, but he was good at what he did. It was said he once saved the life of a tainted lady. She was clad in a red swim suit and set to jump into the river when a man standing nearby pulled out a gun to shoot her. Grandpa grabbed the gun and the man to prevent her death. It was also noted that Grandpa had a serious eye disorder that prevented him from getting a good job. He is buried in Olio cemetery in his mother's new family plot. (Layfette Stewert) I wonder if there is any connection with the ladies shooting incident and his own death in 1926. The last six years of his life is unknown. I wonder if he married again and had other children. (1920-1926)
