Notes
a. Note:   She died and was buried in Clovis, New Mexico, where she was taken because of poor health. New Mexico has no record of the death, so we do not have a copy of the death certificate. They were on a ranch owned by Dan Lucas and presumably buried on the property. She died in Clovis, NM of tuberculosis. Dan Lucas, her sister Charlotte's husband invested in a cattle ranch in New Mexico. When Lula's health began to fail, the whole family took her to Carma (Clovis), where they stayed for a short time until she died and was buried there. They all moved back to Georgia. Aunt Olie said her mother was buried on a claim that her brother worked and was buried there. They didn't have enough money to bring her body back home and could only afford a simple stone marker. Pampaw's railroad pass had not been renewed while they were there and he had to pay their way back home. She said she was about seven when her mother died, about 1906 or 1907. Lula only lived about a year after Mamie Sue was born.
